How to Survive and Succeed as a Writer (without Breaking Your Heart or Losing Your Mind)
Here’s a secret no one tells you about writing: Survival (and also success) has nothing to do with talent or technique. It’s all about mindset and attitude. This is true whether you are just starting out or have been writing for decades.
The most effective way to up your game is to understand yourself more fully, both as a writer and as a human being.
With over a decade of experience working with writers and as the founder of DIY MFA, Gabriela is passionate about helping people get their words on the page and their stories out into the world. Plus, she knows exactly how to do just that because she has been through it and has helped dozens of other writers build their careers as well!
That’s why this live online session is so exciting… because you’ll get to hear directly from Gabriela and get all your questions answered! You’ll leave this workshop feeling energized and inspired, and you’ll have all the right tools to write more, write better, and write smarter.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- Debunk some common myths about writing so you know what to avoid
- Introduce four essential mindfulness techniques so you can be a more resilient writer
- Provide tips on honoring your reality and combating resistance so you can both live and write
- Teach you how to set better goals so you can finally finish your book
- Drop a major truth bomb about breaking through "The Wall"
Registration is free.
Date: February, Wednesday, 3 2021
Time: 2:00 p.m EDT / 11:00 a.m PT
Even if you cannot make it live, register anyway and we'll send out a workshop replay. Hope to see you live!
Gabriela Pereira is a author, speaker, and self-proclaimed word nerd who wants to challenge the status quo of higher education. Her mission is to empower writers to apply an entrepreneurial mindset to their professional growth.
Gabriela earned her MFA from The New School, in New York. While undercover as a graduate student, she learned the inside scoop on MFA programs, invented a slew of writing tools all her own, and developed a new, more effective way for writers to learn their craft. Now she shares what she discovered and helps writers around the world get the “knowledge without the college.”
In a past life, Gabriela worked in the toy industry, creating educational activities and games for toddlers, preschoolers, and tweens. She has taught several writing courses in New York City at organizations like: 826NYC, Everybody Wins, EHTP, and even at a local writing workshop she built from the ground up. While Gabriela now teaches exclusively via DIY MFA, she continues to lead workshops at national and international writing conferences. She also gives keynotes on college campuses, and offers training programs on creativity in the workplace.
Her favorite thing to do is come up with dastardly plans for new writing courses, and create innovative resources to share with her word nerds. When she’s not building cool stuff, Gabriela loves to write middle grade and teen fiction, with some “nerdy fiction for grown-ups” thrown in for good measure.
